An Evening of Music and Drama

Senior School | Sixth Form

03 May 2024

In our inaugural Senior Performing Arts Spotlight, we enjoyed an evening filled with melodies and theatrical prowess, showcasing the remarkable talents of our students.

Eunice T gave a masterful rendition of Beethoven's Sonata op.27 No 2, 3rd Movement on the piano, and Joselyn M's played a haunting flute performance of "Spooked" by H. J. Long. Kathrine H's sang Handel's "Oh, had I Jubal’s lyre" beautifully, while Anabel V's flute danced gracefully to the rhythm of "Catwalk" by P. Wedgwood.

The younger talents of Year 7 Drama also took centre stage, enchanting the audience with performing excerpts from "Alice In Wonderland" by L. Carroll, brought to life by Eva N, Amrit D, Niamh L, Grace T, Helin W, Fei L, Nina M, Grace E, and Auria A.

Grace G played "Tiptoe and Tango" by S. Watts on the flute, and there was an enchanting collaboration from Eunice T on flute and Shanya K on harp for "The Tree of Life" by H. Jones.

Cat S’s rendition of "Bewitched" by R. Rodgers cast a spell over the audience, while Grace D's piano performance of "Four Calling Birds" by R. R. Bennet painted vivid imagery through sound. Amelie M's emotive voice stirred hearts with "Pulled" by A. Lippa, and was a fitting performance to encapsulate her performing arts career through her years at EHS.

The culmination of the evening was the captivating performance by the Year 12 A Level Ensemble, led by Lily X on piano, and featuring the voices of Shanya K, Siena H, and Maia K singing Stephen Sondheim's iconic "The Ladies Who Lunch." Their performance was a truly memorable end to the night.

Throughout the evening, the dedication and passion of our students shone brightly, supported by the guidance of our visiting Music Teachers and the efforts of the EHS Music and Drama departments. Together they have built a vibrant performing arts community, inspiring creativity and excellence in every performance.

Looking ahead, we anticipate a Summer Term filled with more wonderful performances, including teatime concerts, the Prep Summer Concert, and the Summer Extravaganza. As we continue to celebrate the transformative power of the arts, we hope you will join us in supporting the talents and hard work of our students in their musical and dramatic endeavours.
