This has been a quiet week in the Prep School with both Year 4 and Year 6 girls out of school on their residential trips. We have really enjoyed receiving their daily updates and are looking forward to having them back in school next week and hearing more about their adventures. We also wish Year 5 girls well for their trip next week.

There has still been much happening back at school and Year 1 has particularly enjoyed a range of different experiences. They were introduced to Quizizz on their iPad to answer questions. In Geography they have been learning about other countries of the world including Spain, Australia and USA. Using the flipped learning approach and researching topics in advance of being taught about them in school has helped to prepare the girls well. The topic in History has been toys and the girls have studied toys, old and new, and measured and painted them.

Year 3 took part in a ‘beyond the curriculum day’ on Wednesday when they joined three visiting schools for a day of singing. They also enjoyed meeting new friends at lunch time in the playground, before performing the songs they had learnt to a delighted audience in the afternoon.

Our assemblies this week have focused on making wise and sensible decisions and being aware of the consequences of our actions. For our younger girls from Reception to Year 2 there was a discussion on the importance of being kind and the positive effects being kind can have on ourselves and other people.

In our Celebration Assembly at the end of the week there were congratulations to our Year 1 and 2 girls on their weekly endeavours and individual awards for several of the girls. We congratulated Ceana who plays football for Cradley U10 girls’ team and whose team won the Lauren James Cup.  There was also a Grade 1 Royal Academy of Dance ballet award for Doris which she passed with merit. Jashvita received an Independent Work certificate for her lovely animal sketches which she shared.

We are looking forward to seeing other independent work as girls consider this term’s Challenge Board on the topic of dogs. We know how creative the girls can be as they approach these topics in their own unique way.

We hope that everyone enjoys the Bank Holiday Monday and look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday morning.
