Preparatory School

An exciting learning journey begins

Welcome to our Preparatory School, which comprises two parts: our Pre-Prep Department, Westbourne (our Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception classes) and our Prep Department (Years 1 to 6).

From your child’s earliest days with us, we encourage independence and value individuality. As we introduce her to academic study, we place equal emphasis on developing the personal qualities and social skills that will help her succeed through life – and we always remember that learning should be enjoyable.

Between the ages of 2½ and 11, your daughter will grow in many ways. Our role is to inspire and support that growth, providing the opportunities she needs to explore her strengths and interests. Every new experience at EHS will help your daughter learn more about herself and the world around her. With increasing confidence, she will try more, discover more, and learn to follow her own initiative.

Above all, we make learning exciting and challenging, and love to see how this sparks genuine enthusiasm. We make sure curriculum subjects are enjoyable, and add a great variety of co-curricular activities to your child’s day. This approach will help her settle in quickly and happily, becoming part of our Prep School family. 

We also support you, as well as your daughter. If you need more flexibility in the school day, our ‘wraparound care’ means your child can spend extra time here, before or after school. Also, through our Holiday Club, we offer activities for your daughter while you continue your daily routine.

I truly believe EHS provides the perfect start to a child’s education. Our supportive ethos is almost tangible, and visitors often comment on how confident and happy the girls are in our environment. You’re welcome to come and talk to our pupils – there’s no one better to tell you what life here is really like!
