Sport, Art and Performing Arts Scholarships
Performing Arts Scholarship
The Performing Arts Scholarship is offered in Drama and Dance. Performing Arts scholars are expected to promote Drama and Dance at EHS by taking part in a range of extracurricular arts activities, including running junior clubs and representing Drama and Dance at Open Evenings and other school events.
Candidates must apply in writing to the Headmistress and Head of Drama/Dance. The letter of application should outline the candidate's experiences and background in Drama and/or Dance and what they feel they have to offer the School in terms of the Performing Arts. Candidates should prepare an audition piece and will attend an interview lasting ten minutes.
The audition requires that each candidate should perform either a monologue or a dance solo lasting for two minutes. The monologue and the dance must be written/choreographed by the candidate herself.
To be eligible for a Sports Scholarship, a girl should have reached county standard or equivalent in at least one sport offered at EHS and be able to demonstrate and communicate strong leadership potential.
All Sports Scholars are expected to be fully committed to the School's annual sports programme, including Saturday fixtures, Open Days and junior training sessions, in their chosen activity.
Suitability is assessed by interview. Candidates should apply in writing to the Headmistress and Head of P.E. and enclose a record of their sporting achievements and successes.
All applications should be made in writing to the Headmistress and the appropriate Head of Department by the published deadline.
