Taste of the Classics for Year 6

12 May 2017

This week, pupils in Year 6 were given an introduction to the Classics when they attended a taster session in the Senior School.

During the session the girls enjoyed learning about classical mythology, in this case the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. The girls said that they were very much looking forward to studying Classics in Senior School and were pleased to take home their classical Greek pots at the end of the day!

This taster session was designed as an introduction to the Classics. In the Senior School, all students in Year 7 begin the study of Latin and have the opportunity to continue this through to GCSE and A Level. Classical Civilisation is an option from Year 10. In addition, the school runs a very popular Classics Club for girls in Years 7-9 and Classical Greek is offered as an additional subject for older girls.
