Carol Service marks festive season

Senior School

15 December 2017

Undeterred by the cold and rain Senior School pupils, staff and friends of EHS made the short journey to St George’s Church for our annual Carol Service.

The Christmas message was conveyed through the traditional Lessons and Carols, eloquently read by pupil representatives from all year groups - Mimi Okunribido, Fareedat Kenyon, Mia Bentley, Indira Jagpal, Kate Leslie, Daya Gill, Eve Laffoley, Laura Woolley - and closed with a reading of ‘BC:AD’ by U A Fanthorpe, read by Head Girl Holly Morgan.

The service of well-loved carols and hymns was enhanced by interludes from the school’s choirs. Between them, Senior and Chamber choirs sung a varied repertoire and impressed the congregation with their sound and poise; performances included ‘It came upon a midnight clear’ and ‘Candlelight’ and a delightful rendition of Rutter’s ‘Christmas Lullaby’.

With not a seat spare, the occasion was a fittingly festive way for the School community to come together ahead of the Christmas holidays.
