Cross Country Stars

26 September 2014

On Saturday 20 September, 12 girls from Years 5 and 6 and three girls from Year 8 competed in a cross country competition at St Martin's School, Solihull. This was the first sporting fixture of the season.

For Prep girls it was a relay race with each girl having to run two laps of the circuit, approximately one mile. One section of the track included a gruelling uphill run but each athlete received much support from Miss Dawes, enthusiastic parents and their team mates.

Year 5 girls, Evie, Lauren, Charlotte and Imogen ran exceptionally well to take the silver medal. There were two teams entered in the Year 6 race and they too ran very well. The team including Zahra, Maddy, Lujayn and Millie put in some good times as did the 'A' team of Salihah, Amber, Imogen and Taliya who went on to win and take the gold medal position. Well done!

Year 8 girls Harriet, Ellie and Isobelle competed and gave a fantastic performance to come in second place overall. Congratulations to all three runners, especially Isobelle who had to run twice!

A huge well done to all of the girls who competed at the cross country event and as Taliya, Prep Games Captain, said in assembly, "The hard work paid off girls! Go EHS!"
