It was our first Science club session this Tuesday and the Year 5 girls in Science club participated in a fingerprint identification challenge.
The girls learnt how to make clear fingerprints using the correct techniques for the clearest possible print. We then analysed each other's fingerprints, identifying 'arches' 'loops' and 'whorls' in the samples.
Next, it was time to act out a real crime scene and use special fine powder and lifting tape to reveal who committed the crime! We also learnt how police and investigators analyse prints taken on real crime scenes.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable activity and the girls are now experts in fingerprint identification - no more taking the last cookie from the jar in their households!
