EHS Allotment event a success
23 June 2017
Thank you to all the parents and families who supported the EHS Allotment Open Day last Sunday. It was a beautiful day to enjoy such a tranquil part of the city.
Thanks to Dr Steve Watson and to one of our Year 3 parents, Sabreena Mahroof, the allotment is once again looking its best with a great array of vegetables and fruits ripening, ready for the Autumn harvest. Alongside enjoying each other’s company, eating cake and drinking much needed iced water, parents and girls helped clear one of the overgrown borders in the communal orchard ready for the Year 6 girls to plant out during their Monday Gardening Club session. A huge thank you also for all the contributions of cake – they were greatly appreciated!
The girls also enjoyed taking part in a scavenger hunt and making recycled CD and milk bottle scarers to attempt to keep the birds away from our produce! The wormery was also rejuvenated, especially by Amy in Year 3 who found over 30 worms! We really did have a lovely afternoon.
Please keep a look out for our next date which will be in the Autumn Term and come and join in the fun! In the meantime, if you are interested in joining our parents whatsapp group please contact Sabreena Mahroof on firstname.lastname@example.org. We will contact the group whenever we go down to the allotment and it will mean you will able to come and help out and enjoy the allotment with us if that is something of interest to you.
Please keep a look out for our next date which will be in the Autumn Term and come and join in the fun! We really want to share our beautiful school allotment with all our EHS families, whether experienced or apprentice gardeners!
