the weekly newsletter from Dr Ruth Weeks, Headmistress
04 October 2013
On Wednesday, Year 2 travelled back in time to experience life in 1666 at the time of the Great Fire of London.
We worked as apprentice chandlers, weavers, potters, seamstresses, smiths and leather workers. Mistress Nancy led us through a guided fantasy as we relived the effects of the fire through the eyes of Martha and her doll, Nora. We watched the fire spread through the streets of London and investigated sources of evidence to determine which businesses perished or survived in the fire.
Many thanks to all our parent helpers who made the day such a success.
