Fire! Fire!

Preparatory

19 October 2018

On Wednesday, 10 Year 2 girls, staff and a group of willing parents stepped back in time to 1666 and the Great Fire of London.

They were transported to the scene by Master Craig where they spent the morning learning about the trades and lifestyles of 1666. The girls were able to enjoy a hands-on experience, practising a range of traditional skills. They also learnt about how the Great Fire of London spread, what attempts were made to put it out and the extensive damaged caused.

During the afternoon girls were challenged to take an enquiry led approach with an archaeological theme, going on an archaeological dig to interpret secondary sources of evidence.

The girls had a very enjoyable day and the workshop certainly extended their classroom learning.
