Macmillan Coffee Event - Another Tasty Success!
02 October 2015
On Friday 25 September, girls, staff and friends of the school came together to enjoy a cup of coffee and a cake for the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning. There was a wide selection of delicious baked goods on offer including cupcakes, muffins, brownies and the classic Victoria sponge - all provided by the generous Year 12 and Year 13 girls.
In addition to consuming copious amounts of cake, the girls took part in cake related games including 'Spot the cake' where girls had to guess the number of spots on a cake and 'Faked or Baked?' which involved a blind taste test to determine which sample was home made and which was shop bought. There was also a popular raffle, in which the prizes included three 'showstopper' cake creations, skilfully crafted by Mrs Harris, A Level Food and Nutrition students Molly Leyland and Gabriella Perera and finally Isabel Tozer. The lucky winners of the cakes were Esther Simkiss (1stprize), Sonia Afzal (2ndprize) and Priya Aulakh (3rdprize).
The event was a happy occasion in support of a worthwhile cause that is close to the heart of the School. In total, a fantastic £645.15 was raised. Thanks must go to the Year 12 and Year 13 bakers, Sixth Form Charity Reps Laura Dunnaker, Amna Haroon and Ellie-May Williams and Catherine Crow in 9L for her fantastic muffins.
