Last week saw the return from Cranedale of our Year 5 girls and the first of the Year 4 trips to London to the Golden Hinde.  You can read more about Cranedale in the separate story and we will report further on the Golden Hinde trips next week.  These experiences extend the girls’ studies in Science, Geography and History and help to bring the subjects to life.

This week began with a trip to the moon!  We presented the prizes and certificates to the girls in Year 2 following their independent research projects.  There was a range of posters, booklets, mobiles and models and everyone who took part had made a very pleasing effort and was commended for their work.  There were Highly Commended awards and the three overall winners were Rosie, 2R, Grace, 2S and Isabel, 2T.

Year 6 girls have been making a river in a bottle and 3D pop-up waterfalls in Geography this week. They were learning about how rivers transport their material and how erosion and abrasion cause river features to form.

Meanwhile girls in Westbourne have been making good use of their performance skills.  In Nursery, the girls took to the catwalk for a fashion show and Reception girls have been focused on their ‘Creatures Great and Small’ topic.  They presented an assembly to their parents and enjoyed a talk on how to look after guinea pigs.  Read more about these experiences separately.

We would like to tell parents in Prep that there are 21 jumpers in lost property which cannot be returned as they are not named.  Girls need to take care of their property in warmer weather which we hope will soon be here to stay.

Next week we have a storyteller visit and class photographs to look forward to.  We would be grateful if all girls in both Westbourne and Prep could wear their summer uniform on Thursday.

We also break up for Half Term next Friday, at the end of the day. Please ask about our Holiday Club which the girls have really enjoyed in February and over Easter and which will be running during the week.

Head of Preparatory School
