Prep Poetry Slam

27 September 2013

'Poetry Slam' came to EHS and before long the school was buzzing to the sounds of performance poetry. The girls watched and joined in as poems were brought to life with the addition of sound effects, actions and facial expressions.

Year 3 took their newly acquired skills to the playground where they made up verses about clocks. With the aid of the giant clock, this enhanced their understanding of how to tell the time and made it a memorable experience. Other year groups created their own group poems which they then performed.

The results were impressive and enabled the girls to demonstrate their sense of rhythm, wide vocabulary and confidence when performing. We look forward to seeing the Year 5 winning poem along with some performances inspired by a visit to the Land Rover factory, next week, when we celebrate National Poetry Day.
