Gallery inspiration for Art students
03 February 2017
On 25 January Year 12 & 13 Art & Design students attended a trip to London; the day consisted of a visit to The National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and TATE Modern.
At the National Gallery girls enjoyed seeing well-known masterpieces by Seurat, Degas, Van Gogh, Turner and Gainsborough. Girls also had the opportunity to explore some of the permanent displays at the National Portrait gallery, which includes a fantastic selection of paintings of Queen Elizabeth I.
At the TATE Modern girls visited a retrospective exhibition of work by American artist Robert Rauschenberg, who is known for his experimental use of materials and print techniques and the relationship between his artwork and physical performance.
Girls enjoyed the opportunity to broaden their understanding of a variety of art practices and both pupils and staff felt inspired by the range and variety of different
artworks seen throughout the day.
