Looking to the Future

01 July 2016

On Tuesday, Year 12 accompanied by members of staff attended the Higher Education Convention, which took place at the NEC.

Armed with a map showing all the stalls at the event, the girls set off, spending the morning gathering prospectuses, advice from their universities of interest and at times freebies. With over a hundred and fifty Higher Education establishments from all over the country, the event had information on courses for a diverse range of subjects from History to Football Management!  It also offered information on doing joint honours instead of single honours and this was useful for those wishing to further their knowledge in more than one field.

The stalls catered for not only the conventional route into Higher Education through University application but also included a wide range of apprenticeships for those who felt more suited to vocational courses, meaning there was something for everyone. Since the event was put on with UCAS, there were stalls especially for UCAS dotted around the event. This helped us gain valuable information which will come in handy when writing the dreaded personal statement but also provided useful information on life at university including student finance and accommodation.

Overall, an enjoyable and informative morning was had by all.
