Year 6 Gardeners at the Pumpkin Patch

14 October 2011

Year 6 Gardening Club members have enjoyed their first half-term of Wednesday evenings down on the school allotment. They have been busy harvesting the produce and preparing for the next round of crops.

Last week they picked a large pumpkin. They tried to weigh the pumpkin with a Newton spring balance but it was too heavy. The girls knew it was heavier than 5Kg and they each had a guess as to its weight.

In assembly, Miss Hannabuss weighed the large vegetable and the closest estimate was from Lola Daly. Her prize was ... the pumpkin.

Well done girls on some very accurate estimating skills. Keep up the good work on the allotment!
