A Level Results 2009
EHS announced another set of excellent A Level results with two of its pupils securing places at Oxford University.
Former Head Girl, Sarah Baker achieved the required grades in History, Religious Studies, Geography and Critical Thinking to secure her place at Mansfield College to read Law while Rebecca Tatlow excelled in Latin, English Literature, Mathematics and Further Mathematics and will take up her place at Brasenose College to read Classics.
Once again the School's pass rate is 100% with 45.3% at grade A and 31.3% at grade B. 13 girls achieved straight As in 3 or more subjects:
and every candidate who took Art at A Level achieved an A grade:
Joanna Champion, Julia Cheshire, Laura Chung, Georgia Clemson, Eleanor Coe, Olivia Thomas, Aneeka Bashir, Rachel Smith and Paris Stevens.
All girls will take up their university places in line with offers or postpone entry until 2010 to take a gap year. They are choosing a range of courses including Medicine, Law, History, Modern Languages, Psychology, Politics and Geography at high-status universities such as Exeter, Edinburgh, Manchester, York and Imperial College, London.
Commenting on the results, Dr Ruth Weeks, Headmistress, said: "These results are a fitting tribute to the girls, their teachers and parents - I warmly congratulate them and feel proud that EHS has done its part in securing their futures. They demonstrate again that the School's rigorous but caring approach to education prepares girls superbly."
