From Edgbaston to South Africa
05 May 2023
At EHS we do all we can to expand your daughter’s horizons - the more she sees and experiences, the more she learns. To bring classroom learning to life, we organise many school trips throughout the year, from day visits to residential trips in the UK and abroad; so far this academic year EHS pupils have enjoyed overseas trips to Paris, Berlin and Jasper, Canada.
After a number of successful sports tours in the past, the P.E. Department are keen to organise another memorable trip for the pupils. In October 2024 (18 months’ time) we plan to tour South Africa. The trip will be open to current pupils in Year 7, 8, and 9, and the new Year 7 (September 2023 entry).
As well as plenty of netball and swimming, we hope the trip will include the following provisional itinerary:
- Visit to the most iconic landmark in South Africa, Table Mountain.Ferry to and visit of Robben Island
- Township tour of Langa (including meeting local children)
- Visit to and surf lesson on South African waves at Muizenburg
- Visit to Hermanus Blue Flag beaches to hopefully watch the whales
- Cape Canopy Tour - zip line through the Western Cape
- Evening Game drive and Morning Game drive to see the 'Big 5'.
This is sure to be the trip of a lifetime! Parents should receive further information about the proposed trip today.
