Inspiring our Young Writers
13 October 2023
In Year 5 the girls have been working hard in creative writing lessons to develop further their descriptive writing. The particular focus has been on describing the setting for the story.
On Tuesday to help with this process they visited the EHS allotment, in the historic Guinea Gardens, to look for inspiration for writing a description of an outdoor area.
With a tiny sprinkle of imagination, it is amazing to think what a pinecone or conker could be used for! A comfortable fairy bed could be made in the centre of a flower or a pillow made from moss!
We are not sure if they spotted any ‘Borrowers’ but our allotment would make a perfect home for them with so many different materials to choose from. It also provided the
creative stimulus needed for our budding authors and we cannot wait to read the descriptions!
