Before the Bank Holiday weekend Year 4 ended last week with a visit from Jungle Jonathan and some of his rainforest friends. You can read about their experience in the separate article and it is clear that they thoroughly enjoyed their day.

This shorter week saw Year 5 girls set off for their Science and Geography based residential trip to Cranedale in north Yorkshire. They will have lots to tell us on their return.  Whilst they were travelling, some visitors from Hogwarts appeared in Prep library to share the magic of reading on International Harry Potter Day.  They helped our Year 6 Librarians to prepare some interesting themed activities for any visitors to the Library.

Following the success of their production of Peter Pan the Year 6 girls have now started their enrichment programme of activities for the Summer Term. They have started with some Bikeability Courses. These have taken place on our hard courts at the playing fields for the first sessions.  We are sure they will enjoy the range of different activities ahead as the term progresses.

Of course, as we approach the Coronation there have been many associated activities happening.  These have included some King Charles themed collages in shades of royal blue and themed bunting.  We are looking forward to sharing a Coronation picnic as a Prep School community on Friday, ahead of the weekend celebrations.

We have marked Sun Awareness Week in assembly and talked about how to keep safe in the sun by protecting our skins whilst enjoying the sunshine which we hope will be on its way soon.  Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about this topic.

We have ended the week with our Celebration Assembly with many congratulations to our elected form representatives who received their badges this week.  Miss Brown announced the winners of the well contested Year 6 Art Competition.  They were asked to draw a person or persons in any media and the resulting entries were stunning. Helin Wang received the first prize, Naina Khanna was placed second and Anisha Sunnar in third. It had been a very difficult decision to choose from so many excellent entries.

There were individual awards too for Uthara Deepak for Level 3 Learn to Swim award and to Aisha Hussain for her success in a Pony Dressage event. Two girls also gained Independent Work certificates: Zeenia Khan for her box vehicle and Adrienne Farquharson for her poem considering a recipe to make a good Mum.

I do hope that everyone enjoys the Bank Holiday and a weekend of celebrations.
