Oral Health Day
02 February 2024
Each half term we hold a day when we focus on a ‘beyond the curriculum’ topic. On Wednesday of this week Westbourne children took part in a morning focused on their oral health.
The girls were excited to bring their toothbrushes to school to practise their brushing techniques! They learnt about the importance of keeping their mouths healthy and that they should clean their teeth twice a day for at least two minutes.
Some were surprised to know that after brushing your teeth you should not rinse with water as it washes away the fluoride which is there to protect the teeth.
Children also took part in many support activities. They practised brushing the teeth of dolls, used playdoh dental kits, played games and spent time considering which foods were bad or good for their teeth.
The children also enjoyed looking at relevant books to extend their studies further.
