Our Next Head Girl: Voting Underway
19 April 2024
A special assembly was held this morning when six Year 12 students took to the Octagon stage to articulate their aspirations for the role of Head Girl. Mrs Macro opened the assembly, extending a warm welcome to Ruby, Renée, Tyra, Maia, Sanjana, and Amy.
Silence fell as Senior School pupils alongside pupils from Year 5 and 6 awaited eagerly, ready to lend their support to their peers. Standing before an audience of fellow pupils and teachers requires considerable courage, yet each girl demonstrated remarkable composure and confidence as they delivered their speeches, giving an introduction about themselves, outlining why there were applying and stating their focus and immediate priorities should they be successful. It was wonderful to see their vibrant personalities shine through in their talks.
We congratulate the candidates on this achievement. The calibre of the presentations left no doubt that the upcoming decision for voters will be a challenging one as each girl distinguished herself as a deserving contender for the Head Girl position.
The selection process for Head Girl is an important part of the Senior School year. The rigorous election process begins with written applications, followed by interviews conducted with both staff and the incumbent Head Girl and Deputies and finally, shortlisted candidates addressing the Senior School. Votes from Year 11 and Sixth Form students will decide the outcome, with the announcement of the Head Girl elect expected next week.
