Prep Festival of Sports
30 June 2023
Last Friday saw a whole day of sport in the Prep School.
The day started with girls in Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception taking to the sports field. Nursery demonstrated their running skills and a range of fun relay races which impressed their parents. In Kindergarten they took part in their teams to demonstrate a range of running, jumping, skipping and carrying skills. The girls showed determination and concentration as they did in Reception too. These girls added some hurdling and some more advanced relay races. We were pleased that our parents joined in too.
A change of athletes and audience saw our Year 1 and 2 girls take part in our second Sports event. This time the girls were representing their Houses and were supported by their House Captains who gave them much encouragement. Our Sports Captains were also on hand to help with the logistics. The girls worked well together to yet again demonstrate their developing skills to a delighted group of parents. There were running, skipping, jumping and obstacle races using all kinds of equipment, all performed to huge cheers from Housemates and parents. In this sports day Curie House was victorious by just one point.
In our final event of the day our Year 3 – 6 girls took to the field and showed the full progression of skills. They ran in 80m, 100m, 200m and 600m races as individuals and as team relays. There were also a number of new, activity relays this year which delighted the audience. The field events had taken place earlier in the week and the points were all added together with a win this time for Johnson House, again by just one point.
The final scores and the cup will be presented next week in our final assembly but a huge well done to all athletes for their sporting prowess, determination and resilience and support of all.
