Road to Regionals
01 December 2023
Last Thursday, our U14 netballers competed in the prestigious Birmingham Schools County Netball Tournament, the first stage of the National Schools Competition. Finishing in the top two of this competition means automatic qualification for the regional round in January, something EHS hasn’t achieved in over seven years!
We were grouped with Kings Norton, Fairfax, KEHS and Camp Hill in the round-robin group stages and the team were nervous; in Year 7 this event was cancelled mid-game due to poor weather conditions and in Year 8, first place was decided by goal difference.
Competition between teams is fierce with many of the girls playing in national performance academies outside of school. But Team EHS were unstoppable! We played with intensity, capitalising on any turnovers with some great passages of play through court. However, what really stood out was the team’s ability to dig deep and grind out a win when going goal-for-goal, an area we have struggled with in the past. There were convincing wins in both the semi-final and final, meaning EHS were crowned as County Champions!
We are so proud of the team and can’t wait for Regional Finals in January.
