Year 8 Explore River Dynamics
03 May 2024
Under a bright blue sky, Year 8 students embarked on an exciting journey to the stunning Carding Mill Valley in Shropshire, eager to delve into the mysteries of river dynamics.
Armed with ranging poles, clinometers, corks, and stopwatches, the geographers set out to explore how rivers evolve from their source to their mouth.
A key consideration was how to ensure that the data collected was accurate and reliable. The methods were carried out at an upper, middle and lower site in order to show how the river changes as it flows downstream.
The girls thoroughly enjoyed their day, soaking up the good weather and making friends with the sheep! At the end of a hard day of data collection, girls were treated to cakes and ice creams from the café.
Well done to the girls for their perseverance and teamwork, and thank you to Mrs Egan, Mr Shutt and Mrs Newling for accompanying the girls on the trip.
