Archer Selected for European Youth Cup GB Team
09 February 2024
We are delighted to announce that Year 11 pupil Violet has earned a spot on the Team GB arching squad for the forthcoming 2024 European Youth Cup.
On receiving the news via email early one morning, Violet commented, "I was so excited! It’s something I have been working towards for a while now and I couldn't be happier!"
It’s no surprise that Violet’s hard work and dedication has paid off. Her dedication is evident as she diligently manages her school responsibilities alongside a demanding training routine. Her weekly schedule includes strength and conditioning sessions during P.E. on Mondays, followed by shooting practice in her home garage on Tuesdays. Wednesdays are dedicated to further strength and conditioning, while Fridays are spent practising indoors at a local club. On weekends, she ventures outdoors for shooting practice.
Preparations for upcoming competitions are already in full swing for Violet. "With the outdoor season kicking off in April and the indoor season starting around October, I've already begun practising outdoors in preparation for the first leg of the European Youth Cup." Additionally, she's focused on gearing up for the European Youth Championships through selection shoots and aims to improve her ranking in the National Tour, a senior-level competition held across the country.
Looking ahead, Violet is excited for the future and also acknowledges the challenge of balancing her GCSEs with rigorous training, especially considering that some crucial competitions may coincide with the exam period.
We wish Violet all the best and and eagerly await updates on her performance at the youth championships.
