Fire, Fire!

On Monday 2 October, the Year 2 pupils had an exciting visit from the Fire Service. As part of their History topic, pupils have been learning about The Great Fire of London and wanted to find out what the fire service is like today, compared to 1666. The officers told the pupils the types of jobs they can be called out to and who they help.

The fire fighters showed the pupils the uniform that they need to wear and everyone had the opportunity to try it on. It proved to be very heavy! Pupils also had the chance to sit in the cab of the fire engine and use the fire hose to try to knock over a cone.

The visitors answered the many questions the pupils had about being in the Fire Service and they reminded us all to check our smoke detectors at home regularly!
