School routines are firmly established and girls well settled back into lessons. The girls have now enjoyed thinking about their co-curricular activities which will be starting next week. There are so many opportunities available that some girls are having to make tricky choices but they are looking forward to learning many new skills and further developing existing ones. Our Gardening Club has made an early start to their club and enjoyed harvesting many things growing in our school allotment.
Our Year 6 girls who each hold a post of responsibility are being introduced to their jobs and are looking forward to being involved in the smooth running of the Prep School in their roles. We congratulate them all and welcome Charlotte as Head Girl, and Emily and Jessie as Deputy Head Girls.
This week we have marked ‘Talk Like a Pirate Day’ with our new librarians and also National Fitness day when Years 1 and 2 discussed the importance of keeping healthy. On Thursday we marked International Day of Peace reminding everyone that we can all make a difference to the lives of others, starting in our own school community. EHS Prep pupils are learning to be very responsible Global Citizens who we are very proud of.
In our Celebration Assembly on Friday we shared the success or one of our girls from Year 6 last year. Safa amazed us all during the Summer Term with her amazing skills at solving the Rubik’s cube. During the summer holiday she took part in the World Cube Association Competition and she now officially ranks in the Top 100 UK Women for different cubes. She was placed 49th in the Skewb, 58th in the 2x2 and 86th in the Pyraminx. We are proud to hear of this success and send our congratulations.
We also awarded our Well Done Certificates to girls in Years 1 and 2 and there was an individual award for Uthara who has passed her Grade 1 singing for musical theatre. We are also proud of Mrs Mohamed who cycled 30 miles last weekend in support of empowering education in the third world and we presented her medal too.
We have enjoyed meeting Year 1 and 2 parents this week at our Information Evening and we look forward to welcoming our Year 6 parents next week for Parents’ Evening meetings on Monday and Tuesday. We are also hoping many parents will be able to join us for refreshments on Friday morning from 8.15am for our coffee morning in support of Macmillan.
