BASE Students Attend National Finals
03 July 2015
After winning the regional Midlands area heat against 14 teams back in March, The EHS business group was delighted to be attending the national finals of the BASE competition.
BASE is the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)'s National Business and Accounting competition for students aged 16-19. Students are able to engage in a business challenge that enables them to develop key employability skills and understand what it's like to be an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
The girls began the day by registering at the Hilton Hotel in Birmingham before taking part in the competition. We spent the day analysing a business case study as if we were working for the ICAEW. In the afternoon, we then had to present our ideas to a panel of judges who also asked us questions about our strategic plan for the company.
We were then able to attend an employers fair where we could collect information about various careers in business and accounting. After another short speech from our host we were then give time to get ready for the evening Gala Dinner.
Awards were given out throughout the evening whilst we enjoyed a delicious three course meal. Although we didn't win, we performed to the best of our ability and we were proud that we had got this far. After dinner there was evening entertainment which included a lot of dancing.
We thoroughly enjoyed having this opportunity and would like to thank Mrs Shutt and Mrs Campbell for organising it.Year 12 Business Group
