EHS bids farewell to Year 13
06 May 2016
This has been Year 13’s last week in school before they begin their study leave and start revising in earnest. We have been celebrating this important rite of passage with some exciting events. On Wednesday evening, the girls enjoyed a special dinner with staff and parents and this was followed by the fourth annual Year 13 awards presented by Mr Proctor with Vinisha Katamameni gaining the much coveted ‘Next Headmistress of EHS’ award. The girls then performed a medley of their favourite songs put together by Rebecca Presswood. They also presented gifts to Sixth Form staff and there were some very funny tributes to their Form Tutors. Dr Weeks concluded the proceedings by reminiscing about how she taught the year group Chemistry when they were in Year 7 and wishing everyone the best of luck with their forthcoming exams.
It has become a tradition that the girls have themed fancy dress in their last week and the whole school was thoroughly impressed by their creativity and inventiveness. On the very last day they nostalgically dressed in their old school uniform, some even managing to squeeze into their old Prep dresses. They were also treated to a special breakfast with staff in the Senior School Hall.
Their final assembly was many weeks in the planning and eagerly anticipated by all. The leavers’ video was very original and particular thanks must go to the Leadership Team for this.
We are sad to see them go but we wish all of Year 13 success in their forthcoming examinations and look forward to celebrating their results with them in August.
