17 October 2014
Year 2 girls have been learning about the Great Fire of London and on Wednesday they were transported back to 1666.
In the morning the girls learnt about everyday life in the past. They learnt the crafts and skills at various workshops including candle making, weaving and sour dough making. Many became soldiers and learnt about the fire-fighting techniques of the time.
In the afternoon historical enquiry skills were used to unearth more information about the Great Fire and the various trades of 1666 including the role of a blacksmith.
An enjoyable and informative day was had by all.
Many thanks to the parent helpers who made the day so successful.
