Prep Musician of the Year
06 March 2015
Friday 27 February saw the eagerly awaited finals of the Prep Young Musician of the Year.
Preliminary auditions took place in the first half term of the spring term and the Music staff listened to 234 soloists before selecting 25 young hopefuls for the final round.
We were delighted to welcome Abigail Kelly to adjudicate our competition. Miss Kelly is a renowned operatic singer who studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and at the Birmingham Conservatoire. She has achieved numerous awards during her career and has performed a wide repertoire locally in Birmingham, further afield in the UK and abroad.
Miss Kelly had a very hard job as all 25 finalists from Years 3 - 6 played and sang extremely confidently and the standard of music performances was very high.
Final results saw Rebecca as the winner in Year 3, Natalia in Year 4, Kamea in Year 5 and Sharmila in Year 6. The overall Prep Musician of the Year 2015 was Megan from Year 6 who played the clarinet.
Congratulations to all performers and many thanks to Miss Kelly.
