GCSE Results 2017
In 2017, the school was delighted with a pass rate of 97.3% and an amazing 72.2% of grades at A*/A. 26% of candidates achieved all A*/A grades for their subjects.
The cohort of 76 girls took almost 780 individual examinations, covering a range of 28 subjects. There were some exceptional performances, with two girls achieving 11 A* grades, one girl achieving 10A* and two A grades, two girls achieving 10A* and one A grade and one girl achieving 10 A* grades.
The girls have performed very well in the core subjects: 88.8% of grades in English were achieved at A* or A and 80.3% of grades in Maths were achieved at A* or A. EHS girls have also fared well in the sciences: in Biology 71.4%, in Chemistry 69.6%, and in Physics 62.5% of all grades achieved were at A* or A.
Our Thinking and Reasoning Skills candidates in Year 10 achieved a 100% pass rate at Merit. The Higher Project candidates in Year 9 achieved well with 5% of grades at A*, 42% at A, 42% at B and 11% at grade C. As both the Thinking and Reasoning and Higher Project qualifications are taught out of lesson time and require considerable commitment on behalf of the pupils, they are to be commended on their achievements.
Headmistress Dr Ruth Weeks commented: “I am delighted for our students and very proud of their achievements; great credit is due to them and to the teaching staff for their hard work. These truly excellent results give the girls a very strong foundation on which to build and I look forward to welcoming them back as Year 12 in September.”
