Farewell to Year 13
05 May 2017
This has been Year 13’s last week in school before they begin their study leave and start revising in earnest. We have been celebrating this important rite of passage with some exciting events. On Thursday evening, the girls enjoyed a special dinner with staff and parents and this was followed by entertainment provided by the girls, including some beautiful singing by Bethany, Rosie and Ellie, a guitar solo by Emma, a poem recital by Sioned and a final hoola-hoop performance by Bea. They also presented gifts to the Sixth Form tutors, Heads of Year and Leadership Team and there were some very funny and heartfelt tributes to their form teachers and to Dr Weeks.
Dr Weeks concluded the proceedings by reminiscing about the year group, wishing everyone the best of luck with their forthcoming examinations. She reminded them that we are celebrating their time in school rather than saying goodbye, as they will always be part of our community.
It has become a tradition that the girls wear themed fancy dress during their last week and the whole school has been thoroughly impressed by their creativity and inventiveness. On the very last day they nostalgically dressed in their old school uniform, some even managing to squeeze into old Prep dresses. They were also treated to a special breakfast with staff in the dining room.
Their final assembly was many weeks in the planning and eagerly anticipated by all. The leavers’ video was both original and hilarious, and particular thanks must go to the Leadership Team for this.
We are sad to see them go and they will be greatly missed but we wish all of Year 13 success in their forthcoming examinations and look forward to celebrating their results with them in August.
