A Day of Culture in the Capital
21 October 2013
On Saturday 21 September, a group of 22 met in the capital city for a day of culture.
The day was a chance to view the much praised works of Lowry at the Tate Gallery. Our visit to the gallery was preceded by a visit to Chelsea Art College which added another, very interesting element to the day. The college is housed in the restored Chelsea Barracks adjacent to the Tate and Sian Stirling, the college's Director of Marketing and EHS Old Girl, led the group on a tour and talk to shed much light on the history of the barracks and how its purpose had changed over the years.
Thank you to all who attended and special thanks to Sian Stirling for accommodating us. We'll bring you more news about this enjoyable event in the forthcoming edition of Laurel Leaves.
