Learning About Life in Roman Britain
10 June 2016
On Thursday 26 May, Year 7 travelled to Chedworth Roman Villa and the Corinium Museum in Cirencester to learn about life in Roman Britain. At Chedworth, the girls took part in an interactive workshop, dressing up as slaves and making their own medical remedies from fresh herbs and spices. During a tour of the Roman baths they were in awe of the ruins and enjoyed the vibrant sea-themed mosaics.
The girls then journeyed on to the beautiful Corinium Museum where they had a chance to explore ancient artefacts from jewellery to cooking utensils. The museum guided the girls to think about what life was really like in Roman Britain and they thoroughly enjoyed the primary source treasure hunt. One year 7 commented that “it was interesting to learn about what life was like 2000 years ago” in Roman Britain and all the girls exuded enthusiasm throughout the day.
