Cross Country Success

04 October 2013

On Saturday 21 September, our Year 7 and 8 cross country teams took part in the annual Saint Martin's School Relays.

The Year 7 team started the meeting off and the team was led by Harriet Barber who ran a very strong leg, putting the team into first position. Ellie Hewison ran the second leg against a very quick runner from Holy Trinity, before Lillian Mould ran a storming third leg to get the team back into the lead. The team was led home by Isobelle Smith who battled the last lap out with another strong runner from Holy Trinity.

The final result came down to a sprint finish which EHS sadly narrowly missed out on. Well done to the Year 7 team for finishing in an excellent second place against very strong opposition.

The Year 8s followed the example set by the Year 7s and ran another fantastic race, narrowly being beaten into third place. The Year 8 team consisted of Zoe Carver who ran a solid first leg to put the team into a good position, Samah Hussain who further consolidated this position, Florence Briggs who ran hard keeping the team with the chance of a medal. The team were led home by Isobelle Smith in Year 7 who stepped into the team at the last minute. Despite having already competed for the Year 7s she ran another strong leg to ensure the team finished in third place.

Well done to all the girls.
