The Next Chapter initiative for Year 9
07 July 2017
On Monday 3 July, Year 9 took part in an exciting initiative called The Next Chapter. This is a new opportunity for girls at EHS where the whole year group had a day off timetable together to prepare for life in Year 10.
Girls took part in talks, workshops, challenges and team building activities run by the Year 9 and Year 10 tutor teams. Girls explored all aspects of life in Year 10 and were challenged to generate ideas, set and meet targets, take risks, demonstrate teamwork, communicate effectively and to build grit and resilience as they competed in a series of tasks.
This culminated in a Core Challenge testing scientific, mathematical and written English skills that will be examined at GCSE level. Competition was fierce and the winning team delivered a brilliant project that wowed the judges. The winning team consisted of Amy Campbell, Ana Victoria Curry, Ania Gissen, Freya McGuire and Maria Sharobeem.
The day ended with a trip to the Botanical Gardens for a final Orienteering mission and a well-deserved ice-cream! A big thank you must go to Miss Hayday, Mrs Lee, Miss Roye and Mrs Hewison for their help and support.
Finally, a very big well done to all of the girls involved for having a fantastic attitude to all of the challenges.
We wish you the best for the summer holidays and look forward to welcoming girls back into Year 10 in September.
