Young Enterprise team impress at Area Finals

19 May 2017

On Thursday 11th May we were delighted to attend the Young Enterprise Birmingham and Solihull Area Finals. This was the second round of finals and we were feeling confident following our previous win of three awards (Best Company, Best Trade Stand and Best Company Report) at the regional finals.

To begin with we set up our trade stand, displaying our canvas crayon art products which are unique, creative and colourful. We were then interviewed by four judges on the development of our product, our process and our success throughout the Young Enterprise experience. They were very thorough and wanted to know everything about our company and the production of our canvases. Following this we gave a short presentation to the judges, the Mayor of Solihull and our various competitors. The competition was strong and included a children's book, clothing designers and bath bomb creations.

We are extremely proud to have won Best Presentation, delivered by Elizabeth Edwards, Aliya Mukadam, Vivian Tam and Laura Woolley. The judges’ feedback included appreciation of what they called our ‘confident and polished delivery’. We also won runner-up Best Company, which is an amazing achievement considering how tough the competition was and that the judges remarked it was extremely close between the top two companies.

Our whole team have worked incredibly hard throughout the process and we've achieved a great deal, finishing with a total of five awards - the most any EHS Young Enterprise group has been awarded. We're sad the experience is over but grateful to have been able to take part and thankful to Mrs Shutt who has supported and helped us with the entire process.

Everyone in Team Aphrodite - Aliya Mukadam, Laura Woolley, Elizabeth Edwards, Vivian Tam, Muriyum Afrasiab, Amaris Sandhu-Knoott, Fahimah Asrar and Aman Sidhu - has done remarkably well and were all key to the success of our company.

Laura Woolley
Deputy Managing Director of Team Aphrodite
