Year 2 Rocket Science
01 July 2016
To celebrate the British astronaut, Tim Peake’s six months on the International Space Station, a National experiment was planned for school children in this country. Year 2 took part in this national piece of research.
We received two packets of rocket seeds (red and blue packets) to plant and grow over a six-week period. One of these packets had spent time in space where there is no gravity. We did not know which packet had been to space. We had to predict at the end of the six-week period which seeds we thought had been in space.
Year 2 predicted it was the seeds in the Blue packet because they had grown slightly less well than the seeds from the red packet. Tim Peake revealed on his return to Earth that it was indeed the Blue Packet of seeds!
