During the summer holidays, Year 12 student Emily Irving competed in the British Gymnastics National Championships for tumbling.
The event represented the culmination of months of hard work for Emily who had successfully fended off stiff competition on three separate occasions in order to qualify for the championships.
The championships began with Emily successfully qualifying to represent the West Midlands, where she finished in 1st place.
She then went on to compete at the semi-final at the Barclaycard arena. At this stage of the competition, Emily needed to finish in the top six to secure her place in the national finals. Emily rose to the challenge, finishing in a fantastic 3rd place, successfully qualifying for the national finals in Telford.
In the finals Emily competed fantastically and finished in 1st place - a tremendous achievement.
