Zoe Experiences Work at Cadbury
26 September 2014
Over the summer holidays I was fortunate to secure work experience at that part of Mondelēz International better known as Cadbury.
I had the opportunity of experiencing many different departments and areas of the business including Business Development and Engineering, Safety and Sustainability, Quality,
Manufacturing, Chocolate Making, Planning, Research and Development and visiting various factories including Bournville, Chirk and Marlbrooke.
The knowledge I have gained over my time at Mondelēz International will aid my A Level Food and Nutrition and hopefully follow me into university.
My favourite learning experience at Cadbury was being in the newly built 'innovation kitchen' which many celebrities, including chef Heston Blumenthal, have also visited. The innovation kitchen is a place where any crazy idea or flavour combination can be made into a reality because they may just become the next best-selling product.
It was in the innovation kitchen that I learned how to temper and make chocolate. Tempering chocolate is reforming the crystals to change its texture making it shinier and
more stable. I even had a go at inventing my own flavour combination - raspberry and rice crispies - so watch out for that when you next go shopping!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Mondelēz International and would like to thank everyone for being so welcoming and enabling me to gain so much from my time there. It was a truly valuable and unforgettable experience.
