Celebrating 149 Years of Edgbaston High School

31 January 2025

This week, Edgbaston High School proudly marks its 149th birthday, celebrating an incredible journey that began in 1876. For nearly a century and a half, EHS has been dedicated to inspiring, empowering, and educating generations of girls, shaping them into confident, ambitious young women ready to make their mark on the world.

Today, we have been celebrating in true EHS style with a special birthday assembly, led by Head of Prep, Mrs Hobson. The assembly focused on our school values—courage, creativity, aspiration, perseverance, responsibility, excellence, and inclusivity—the very principles that have shaped EHS throughout its history. The whole school community came together, with wonderful performances from our youngest pupils through to Sixth Form. We sang a special Happy Birthday, cut the cake, and even enjoyed a whole-school game of Pass the Parcel!

But while today has been a fantastic celebration, it has also made us even more excited for what’s to come… because next year, we celebrate a huge milestone—150 years of EHS! Plans are already underway for a very special year of celebrations, and we can’t wait to share them with you.

Stay tuned—exciting things are coming as we honour the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future of Edgbaston High School!
