Charity Round-Up: A Big Thank You!
Senior School | Sixth Form | Laurels Association
11 April 2025
We are absolutely thrilled to share the outstanding efforts of our school community in supporting a range of charities this academic year. So far, we’ve raised a fantastic £5,820.82, including an impressive £1,470.21 this term alone – thank you!
Looking back to the end of autumn term, our Christmas Jumper Day raised £111.85 for Save the Children, which works to tackle child poverty in the UK and around the world. With 30% of children in the UK living in poverty, their work supporting education and early development is vital.
We also raised £511.36 for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal, supporting veterans and their families. The charity was founded after WW1, when millions of servicemen returned with life-changing injuries. Today, it continues to provide much-needed support for those affected by service.
This term began with a Valentine's-themed non-uniform day, which raised £401.54 for Little Hearts Matter and Mind. Little Hearts Matter supports those affected by single ventricle heart conditions, while Mind works to ensure everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets the help they need.
Our RAG Week brought the whole school together for a brilliant week of fundraising, with events including the samosa sale, chip sale and sweets-in-a-jar challenge, raising £522.16. A further £95.30 came from our ever-popular doughnut sale!
We ended the term with a charity non-uniform day in aid of Hannah’s Kingdom, raising £451.21. Founded by Hannah King-Page, who is living with a brain tumour, the charity supports Brain Tumour Research, the only national UK charity dedicated to funding research into brain tumours – the biggest cancer killer of under-40s in the UK.
Thank you to all our students, staff and families for your generosity and enthusiasm. Keep an eye out for our summer term charity events – we can't wait to see what we’ll achieve together next!
