EHS Girls Capture Stories in a Jar
14 March 2025
In honour of the recent World Book Day, held on Thursday 6 March 2025, Miss O’Hare, the English Department and the House Captains invited the Senior School to celebrate the magic of stories by unleashing their creativity and making their very own “EHS Story in A Jar.”
All they had to do was find a jar of any size and decorate it to reflect the characters and plots of their favourite stories. Jam jars of all shapes and sizes were filled with colourful objects, beautiful drawings, personalised crafts, unique character and theme related props, and key items and clues to identify their chosen books.
EHS girls did not disappoint and creativity was unleashed by the bucket load to cover an eclectic mix of nostalgic childhood tales like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to modern teenage fiction like The Good Girl’s Guide to Murder.
Supported and encouraged by the House Captains, who were keen to win bonus points for every entry, the display in the Learning Hub reminded us all of why we love books, how stories can transport us into magical worlds, why stories are powerful and ultimately why books still matter in 2025.
We are delighted to announce the winners and look forward to running the competition again next year. We hope you all had a wonderful World Book Day.
The Winning House with the most entries was St Patrick and the Runner Up - St Andrews.
