Exploring Next Steps at Futures Fair

Senior School | Sixth Form

04 October 2024

The greatly anticipated Futures Fair arrived at EHS! Exhibitors from a wide range of universities, charities and employers set up in the Octagon early last Friday. Years 9-13 visited the fair throughout the morning, speaking to the exhibitors about potential study and career opportunities in areas they are interested in.

Not only is it important to get an idea about your career path, volunteering is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience and help you to stand out on your personal statement!  From nursing and midwifery to product design and engineering, the girls got stuck in with their questions!

It was particularly exciting for Year 9 and 10 as this is the first time they have thought about their next steps after EHS. It is never too early to get important information and start planning. You never know, there could be a career you never knew about!

Year 11, 12 and 13 took advantage of the Virtual Lounge, looking through the UCAS website and Unifrog, familiarising themselves and getting to grips with the UCAS points system. Unifrog is an important platform for personal statements, student references and applying to university.

The buzz around the room was so exciting and even the exhibitors were impressed with how the students conducted themselves.

We also had a very special Laurels Lounge where we had alumnae from all kinds of careers ready to talk to our current students about what they have been up to since leaving EHS and how they got there. Networking is such an important part of social development, and our current pupils were so keen to speak to those that have come before them.

Keep an eye out for more updates on talks, workshops and more information about Futures on the @ehscareers Instagram account as well as meeting with Ms Chambers and Mrs Coley every Thursday and Friday in the Learning Hub with any questions or help.
