Inspiring Drama Performances

Senior School

18 October 2024

Our drama students have been enjoying an exciting series of theatrical experiences over the last few weeks. From trips to world-class productions to preparing for their own stage performances, it’s been an enriching term for all involved. Here's a closer look at the highlights.

Matilda the Musical – Year 9 in London

On Wednesday, a group of Year 9 students travelled to London to see Matilda the Musical at The Cambridge Theatre. The early 6:45am start, all bleary-eyed and yawning, didn’t dampen their spirits, as excitement quickly filled the air!

Before the show, the girls were lucky enough to be able to take part in a workshop, directed and run by the Royal Shakespeare Company’s creatives from the show, exploring themes and characters from the musical through various acting techniques.

After a picnic in the local green space, the girls took their seats in the auditorium to watch Matilda the Musical. They laughed and clapped their way throughout the performance, even joining in with a song or two.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Coley and Mr. Lane for accompanying the students on this fantastic trip!

Wonderboy at The Wolverhampton Grande Theatre – Year 11 Drama

Year 11 Drama students had a fantastic evening at the Wolverhampton Grande Theatre, watching Wonderboy directed by Sally Cookson. After enjoying a tasty teatime trip to ‘Nando’s’, Year 11 settled down to watch the innovative and thought-provoking performance.
The impressive set design and use of technical elements really captivated the students, giving them plenty to write about for their ‘Response to Live Performance’ part of the exam paper.

BRIGHT.YOUNG.THINGS – EHS Senior Performance Group

Our talented EHS Senior Performance Group is ready to bring Georgia Christou’s BRIGHT.YOUNG.THINGS to life (by arrangement with Nick Hern Books).
The lines have been learnt, the movement memorised and the costumes collected - and the cast are all set to bring you Georgia Christou’s energetic play that explores the manipulative nature of the media and the lengths we will go for glory and recognition.

Join us on 26 and 27 November for what will be a fantastic celebration of our talented EHS Drama students. Watch this space for more information after the half term holiday.
