We regularly extend the learning experiences of the girls in the Prep School by offering a variety of hands-on workshops.
At the end of last week one of these opportunities was offered to Year 4 when Jungle Jonathan came to EHS! This workshop was connected to the Geography curriculum and to extend the girls’ studies of the rainforest.
Uthara in Year 4 writes:
“Jungle Jonathan brought an array of different species of animals from rainforests around the world with him to visit. We had a choice of holding a snake called Rafiki, or a millipede called Milly and then we could stroke a gecko and scorpion. Two volunteers were able to hold two baby scorpions only two weeks old.
“The most beautiful sight however was two rare male Katydids. They were called Orlando 1 and Orlando 2. These are the animals that Jungle Jonathan has most enjoyed having in his collection. They looked just like leaves from the jungle.
“None of the girls were allowed to touch Santa - a tri coloured snake born on April Fools Day. Jonathan taught us a rhyme ' red with black is a friend of Jack but red with yellow could kill a fellow' about snake colouring and whether you could touch them or not.
“It was a fantastic day.”
