Scientists take a closer look
03 March 2017
Science club girls continued the theme of eyes this week when they dissected an eye on Tuesday in the Prep School's Science Explorers Club.
The girls were able to study the structure of the eye in close detail. They found out how strong the outer, white part of the eye is when they tried to pierce it. When they opened the eye they were able to identify the liquid vitreous humour and then placed the lens on some news print to observe how a relaxed lens magnifies the text.
Finally, they looked for the blind spot where the optic nerve attaches to the back of the eye. The girls enjoyed extending their knowledge of how the eye works.
